Paul McCartney marks birthday of Beatles bandmate George Harrison

The Beatles frontman Paul McCartney marked the anniversary of George Harrison‘s birthday on Saturday with a touching throwback photo of a recording session.

“My lovely friend George,” McCartney, 74, tweeted. “Still celebrating his birthday. Lucky to have had him in my life.”

Harrison was born in Liverpool on Feb. 25, 1943. He met McCartney at  the age of 14 and went on to play lead guitar for The Beatles. Harrison died of lung cancer at the age of 58 on Nov. 29, 2001.

McCartney had said in a statement  after his passing, “He was a lovely guy and a very brave man and had a  wonderful sense of humor. He is really just my baby brother.”
