Stelson Wins Dem Nomination In 10th District, Faces Perry In November

Former TV journalist and presenter, Janelle Stelson, has won the Democratic nomination for the 10th District in Pennsylvania. Stelson will now face incumbent Republican Scott Perry in the November elections.

Stelson, who brought the evening news to south central Pennsylvanians for over three decades, defeated five other Democratic challengers to secure her spot. Despite not living in the district, which includes Dauphin County and parts of York and Cumberland Counties, Stelson's bid was endorsed by the campaign arm of the center-left New Democrat Coalition, EMILY's List and United Mine Workers of America.

Stelson's most prominent challengers included Mike O’Brien, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, who received endorsements from Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) and former Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pa.). He also received the backing of organizations and unions including Teamsters Local 776 in Harrisburg, the largest union office in the state.

On the other side of the race, Perry is running for a seventh term in Congress. He has been under scrutiny for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and was among 147 Republicans to object to the last presidential election results. Perry was also among a handful of GOP lawmakers subpoenaed during the House select committee’s investigation into the Capitol attack, but he ultimately rebuffed the panel’s request.

The upcoming elections in November will determine if Stelson can tip the scales in favor of the Democrats.
