"Breaking Bad" went out in style, capturing six Emmys for its final season . . . including Outstanding Drama, Lead Actor in a Drama for BRYAN CRANSTON and Supporting Actor in a Drama for AARON PAUL.

Cranston's TV wife ANNA GUNN also won for Supporting Actress in a Drama.

But it came in second to "Sherlock:  His Last Vow", which snagged seven Emmys, including Best Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH.

"True Detective" won four technical awards at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, but got nothing last night . . . despite all the attention that was paid to MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY during the show.

JIMMY KIMMEL ripped on Matthew for a few minutes for monopolizing all the award shows this year.  (Check it out hereWARNING!!!  At the 1:11 mark, Jimmy says "Son of a bitch".)

"Modern Family" won Outstanding Comedy Series for the fifth straight year, and TY BURRELL won for Supporting Actor in a Comedy for the second time since 2011.

JIM PARSONS won his fourth Emmy for Lead Actor in a Comedy for "The Big Bang Theory" . . . while JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS won the female equivalent for "Veep".

And JULIANNA MARGULIES won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for "The Good Wife".  She also won it in 2010.

The night's highlights included host SETH MEYERS, who was actually funny. (Here's a rundown of all the jokes from his monologue.)

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC put lyrics to the theme songs from "Mad Men", "Scandal", "Homeland", "Modern Family" and "Game of Thrones" . . . with help from ANDY SAMBERG.

After SARA BAREILLES sang her beauitful rendition of "Smile" for the In Memoriam segment, BILLY CRYSTAL came out and did a touching tribute to ROBIN WILLIAMS.

GWEN STEFANI announced a win for "The Colbert Report" as the Best Variety, Music, or Comedy Series.  But she mispronounced it "The Col-BOAR Report".  But it was nowhere near as bad as John Travolta's "Adele Dazeem" Oscar moment.

When Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her award, she and Bryan Cranston had a pretty heavy MAKE OUT session.  It was a callback to a joke they did earlier in the show, about how they kissed when Cranston guest-starred on "Seinfeld" back in the day.

Finally, there was one bit that actually pissed a lot of people off.  During the usual, boring speech by the Television Academy president, they put SOFIA VERGARA on a spinning platform, so everyone could ogle her.
