Sara’s Weekend Picks 3/7-9
It sure doesn’t feel like it, but surely spring is on its way. At least that’s how it looks with the bevy of events going on this weekend -- It appears we’re ready to break from hibernation and face the world again!
Here are some picks for your weekend.
Check out “Of Carnivals and Kings," from 6-10 p.m. tonight at The Metropolis Collective in Mechanicsburg. The event promises to be a spectacular exhibition of carnival and sideshow-themed madness, featuring live performances, music and original artwork on the circus theme from their eclectic group of artists.
Music provided by Harrisburg surf punk triad, Buzzchopper.
Costumes are encourages -- wear your weirdest sparkles, stripes and don’t miss this wild art show.
Saturday night is the 3rd annual Gridiron Gala. This is a black tie-optional event benefiting Uplifting Athletes, a national nonprofit organization aligning college football with rare diseases and raising them as a national priority through outreach, research, education and advocacy.
The event takes place at The State Museum of Pennsylvania and features live entertainment, gourmet “tailgate” and open bar -- plus the chance to mix and mingle with former college football stars -- all while raising funds for rare disease research.

March is Pennsylvania Wine Trail month -- and with the weekend’s temperatures slated to be somewhat (relatively) mild -- it’s the perfect excuse to check out the area’s burgeoning wine scene.
The Mason Dixon Wine Trail features its annual Tour de Tanks this month, while the Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail features wine and cheese pairings at participating locations.
Explore the area’s agriculture -- and take some home with you.
