It’s a great weekend for events in the greater Harrisburg -- and yet I’m heading northeast to go camping. Go figure. In my absence, here’s your best bets for the weekend:

Vintage & Vineyards, the Hershey Wine Festival at the AACA Museum! Choose from three levels of tasting experiences. Newbies can benefit from an introductory tasting “class,” then join the Grand, or main, Tasting. Meanwhile aficionados can score early access to 100 exclusive wines being poured only during the VIP hour. Features more than 500 wines from around the globe.

An annual spring event I’ve looked forward to since the old days when I was part of the planning committee, this Saturday is the 16th annual HYP Home Tour. The event, which this year will focus on the downtown Harrisburg neighborhood, allows guests an intimate look at city living, while enjoying light food and beverages from area restaurants. This year’s tour also includes stops at a few local restaurants, including McGrath’s, Home 231 and the Federal Taphouse.

Don’t forget Mom this Sunday! Visit (click on Weekend Roundup 5/8) for a list of area Mother’s Day brunches.

Plus, Mom gets free admission (with purchase) at Hershey Gardens, The Hershey Story and Whitaker Center’s IMAX Theatre.
