After an Alabama teacher experienced the death of a loved one in his family, he was surprised by an act of kindness performed by one of his students.

Price Lawrence was teaching his sixth grade class in Huntsville, Alabama when his students noticed that their teacher was a "little off."

“When they asked why I wasn’t acting normal, I explained to them that my wife’s father had passed away this weekend and that I was worried about her,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Lawrence said his students said they were sorry for his loss and the class got back to work.

After the end of the first period, Lawrence wrote he was standing at the classroom door giving hugs and handing out high fives when one of his students approached him and placed something in his hand.

While standing at my door giving hugs and high fives at dismissal to 2nd period one little girl put something in my hand. She told me “This is for your wife. I know it was real expensive when my daddy died and I don’t really want ice cream today anyways.”

When he looked at the note, it read "Ms. Laerence. I'm sorry." Three quarters were included with the note.

Lawrence posted a photo of the note and the three quarters he received from the little girl in his class on a Facebook post that quickly went viral.

“I wish the world would pay more attention to children,” he wrote. “We could learn a lot from them.”
