>Around 35-Thousand People Have Applied To Work The Polls On Election Day

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania’s Secretary of State says they have received around 35,000 applications for poll workers for the upcoming general election. Typically, the Commonwealth will need between 40-and-45 thousand poll workers statewide for the general election. Those workers much be 18 and registered to vote in the county in which they want to serve. There are exceptions that would allow a high school student who is at least 17 to serve in the role.

(Lancaster, PA) -- Lancaster’s chief of police says the deadly shooting of a man with a knife over the weekend was justified. It’s reported that Chief Jarrad Berkihiser believes the officer’s actions were appropriate after looking at the body camera footage. The officer shot 27-year-old Ricardo Munoz on Laurel Street Sunday after the man approached with a knife in a threating manor. The shooting has prompted protests and some violence in Lancaster.

(Amity Twp., PA) -- Firefighters from Berks, Chester, and Montgomery counties say they battled a three-alarm fire in Amity Township Wednesday. Crews shut down part of Route 422 for several hours while firefighters worked on a large garage that housed several businesses. There’s no word on what sparked the fire.

(Exeter Twp., PA) -- A GoFundMe page is set up to help an Exeter Township man who lost nearly everything he owned in a fiery crash at his home. Police say an S-U-V hit a mobile home in the 48-hundred block of Perkiomen Ave, with both bursting into flames. First responders pulled the driver from the vehicle and took him to a hospital. The man who lived in the home wasn't seriously hurt.

(West Reading, PA) -- West Reading officials are calling off their officially sanctioned trick-or-treat night. The mayor of West Reading, Andrew Kearney, says while the borough made the decision out of concerns for the health and safety of people the borough is still encouraging those who plan to venture out to do so safely with COVID-19 protocols in mind. It’s believed other Berks County communities may make a similar call due to the pandemic.

Governor Tom Wolf is planning on providing more guidance on event attendance either today or tomorrow after a federal judge ruled his restrictions on gatherings unconstitutional earlier this week. Wolf says whether people like it or not, the virus likes it when people get close and he plans to address crowd sizes and make it harder for COVID-19 to spread. He emphasized that he's not a doctor, but his bet is that if three-thousand people are together packed in closely then the virus is going to really like that and if people were looking to get infected, that would be the way to do it. The governor's administration is hoping to file an appeal against the judge's ruling after filing for a stay yesterday.

(University Park, PA) -- Big Ten football is officially returning to start playing in October. Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted unanimously for the season to start during the weekend of October 23rd and 24th and each team will play an eight game season. Student-athletes, coaches, trainers and other staff will have to get tested for COVID-19 every day among other protocols.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf and Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman are continuing to call for the legislature to legalize marijuana in the state. Fetterman says nearly 22-thousand people were arrested in 2019 for having a small amount of marijuana and that time and resources could be better spent elsewhere than prosecuting Pennsylvanians for something most believe shouldn't be illegal. Wolf emphasized the benefits that legalization would have on the state's economy amid the pandemic as it is estimated that 300-million-dollars in revenue could be made for the state each year if cannabis is legalized.

(Moosic, PA) -- Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is visiting Pennsylvania today. The Scranton native is scheduled to attend a CNN town hall event beginning at 8 p.m in the PNC area. State police are expecting traffic delays as they will be setting up roadblocks and closures on Interstate 81 north and southbound in the area of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International Airport.

(Bethlehem, PA) -- The family of the eleven-year-old girl who was shot in the face while answering her home door last week on Fairland Avenue is trying to raise money for more surgeries through a GoFundMe page. Her family says she did not deserve anything like this, she's a good kid who loves gymnastics and wants to be and Olympic gymnast or coach in the future. They added that her road to recovery will be long and more surgeries will be needed as she suffered significant facial trauma. Police are still looking for a suspect in the case.

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenny is telling Eagles fans not to tailgate at the stadium this Sunday. According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the city is trying to eliminate big crowds like the tailgating would attract. Kenney said the city plans to block the entrances to the parking lots at Lincoln Financial Field on gameday and there will be no partying allowed at FDR Park either. Eagles fans are not allowed to attend games at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Philly will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 1 o'clock.

(Philadelphia, PA) -- A man is learning the hard way to leave the fireworks to the professionals. The 41-year-old man is left without his hand after he was handling an M-series device when it exploded on him Tuesday afternoon. He suffered other serious injuries before he was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported in this incident.
