PennDOT Plans 18-Day Closure for Route 849 Repairs

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Route 849, also known as the Duncannon Subway, will be closed for drainage repairs starting Monday, September 21, in Penn Township, Perry County. The closure will last approximately 18 days, ending on Friday, October 9. The affected section is between North Market Street and Route 22/322.

During this period, a detour will be in place using Route 11 and Route 22/322. Travelers are encouraged to check road conditions and traffic updates through the 511PA service, which provides real-time information on traffic delays, weather forecasts, and access to over 1,200 traffic cameras. The service is available online, via a smartphone app, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.

The repairs are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve road infrastructure in the area. PennDOT has urged motorists to plan their routes accordingly and to be aware of potential delays. For more information on PennDOT's projects, visit their website.
