UPDATE: HIGH SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL TO CONTINUE REMOTE LEARNING

Dear MTSD Families,
We have another important update regarding ourHigh SchoolandMiddle Schoolschedule that takes effect immediately.
November 16-20, 2020
Due to the significant increase in positive and probable COVID-19 cases in the last 48 hours at theHigh School and Middle School, we have reached a point where we need to continue remote learning for grades 7-12 throughFriday, November 20. Students will follow the early dismissal schedule on Friday, November 20. There is no change to the school schedule for full-time Career and Technology (CTC) students. CTC students who attend part time will continue to learn remotely periods 1-3, and then travel to the CTC for classes.
November 23-November 27, 2020
There is no school for students this week, due to virtual parent-teacher conferences and the Thanksgiving break, with the exception of half day and full day CTC students (November 23 & 24 only). CTC students will receive additional information regarding transportation next week.
November 30-December 4, 2020(please review schedule posted below in this letter)
At this time, we are planning for Middle School and High School students to transition to the “Yellow” hybrid learning schedule on Monday, November 30and continue that mode of learning throughFriday, December 4.
Additional Information regarding the Middle School and High School Schedules
The “remote” days of instruction (November 16 through November 19) will besynchronous learning; the students will follow their regular class schedule. November 20 will consist ofsynchronous and/or asynchronous instruction, and teachers will communicate expectations with students. Period by period attendance will be taken for synchronous learning. It is important that your student signs into each class (remotely) during all of their scheduled class periods.
From Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4, the Middle School and High School will follow a hybrid (yellow phase) schedule, with the intended goal to move to Green phase (full-time, face to face) on Monday, December 7, 2020. Please know that we may need to continue remote learning or a hybrid schedule through the month of December if the Middle School and High School continue to experience similar issues associated with increased cases. In the event that we need to continue remote learning or a hybrid schedule, we will communicate this information to you as soon as possible.
Hybrid Schedule for Week of November 30-December 4
The hybrid schedule will only impact secondary (Grade 7-12) students who are “Face-to-Face.” As a reminder, the split attendance model is arranged in the following manner:
- Students in Grades 7-12 in Group A
- Attend face-to-face instruction on:Monday, November 30andTuesday, December 1.
- Students in Grades 7-12 in Group B
- Attend face-to-face instruction on:Wednesday, December 2 andThursday, December 3.
- Students in Grades 7-12 in Group C:
- “Group C” students: MDS, ES, LSS, AS
- “Group C” attends face to face on all “Yellow” days – Monday, 11/30 – Friday, 12/4.
- Full day CTC students have no school on Monday, November 30. Half day CTC students will attend their period 1-3 classes only. All CTC students will report to school as normal for the remainder of the week (December 1-4) during the Yellow/Hybrid Phase.
- Friday, December 4 will be a remote learning day for Group A and Group B students. Group C students will attend face-to-face.
Landis Run and K-4 Elementary Information
There is a schedule change atLandis Run Intermediate School. Landis Run families have already received a school communication regarding this change. Due to the increased number of active and probable COVID-19 cases at Landis Run, the students and staff will transition to the Red phase (remote learning) tomorrow, Friday, November 13th and will return to the Green phase (face-to-face) on Monday, November 16th.
There are no changes in theK-4schedule at this time. We will continue to closely monitor our K-4 buildings and evaluate the circumstances in these buildings as well.
We are continually monitoring the circumstances in each of our schools. As we head into the holiday season,please continue to practice all safety measures. It is important to continue to report any symptoms, COVID testing, and/or any close contact with a positive case, to your school nurse, so our district can monitor and continue contact tracing efforts for our staff.
