Scientists Replicate Song From Brainwaves

(Undated) -- Researchers say they've been able to reproduce a song from the brainwaves of people who listened to it. The brainwaves were recorded from 29 epileptic patients back in 2012 and 2013 who listened to Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 1." Scientists used electrodes in the brains of patients to monitor activity and years later, started feeding the data into a computer. Eventually, the algorithm got smart enough to use the data to reproduce a recording of the song they heard. Scientists hope it will help lead to advances in communicating with non-verbal patients. The results were published Tuesday in the journal PLOS Biology.
