We're at a point where if you're looking at a screen, chances are you're looking at more than one. A recent poll revealed that the average Gen Z'er checks their phone six times during a single episode of a TV show. And it's not just younger generations—Millennials check their phones five to six times per episode, Gen X checks four to five times, and even Baby Boomers check three times.

When it comes to watching shows or movies at home, most people are also using their phones at the same time. A whopping 78% of Gen Z said they usually are, while 41% of Baby Boomers admitted to multitasking as well.

As for how long people can stay engaged with a screen before they start reaching for their phone, the numbers are telling: 15 minutes and 42 seconds for a movie, 14 minutes and 36 seconds for a TV show, 9 minutes and 12 seconds for a podcast, and 8 minutes and 18 seconds for an audiobook. The age of multitasking is here to stay.
