'Power Rangers' Actor Dave Mallow Dead At 76

Actor Dave Mallow, best known for voicing Baboo and various other characters on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has died at the age of 76, a source confirmed to TMZ on Tuesday (March 12).

Mallow reportedly died while in hospice care at the MonteCedro Senior Living Community in Altadena, California, after his health was reported to have "been declining in recent years," a former colleague confirmed. The actor appeared in 138 episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from 1993 to 1999, appearing as Baboo and various other roles for the franchise, later appearing on Power Rangers in Space, Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Time Force.

"It is with a heavy heart that we report; Iconic #PowerRangers Voice Actor, Dave Mallow, has passed away. Dave was best known for his roles in #MightyMorphin; voicing such iconic monsters of the day such as Pudgy Pig, Lizzinator, Terror Blossom, Beamcaster and so many more! He was also the voice of the beloved, Baboo. Dave also provided voices for many monsters of the day from Zeo through Wild Force. Morphin’ Legacy sends all the love and light to his family during this time, Rest in Power! #ripdavemallow," the Morphin' Legacy X account wrote.

Mallow is also credited for voice acting roles in the anime shows Digimon: Digital Monsters, Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh! and various Japanese animated films, as well as the video games Call of Duty, Battleship, Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Final Fantasy. Mallow's death comes just over two years after Jason David Frank, who played Tommy Oliver, the original Green and White Ranger, died by suicide at the age of 49 in November 2022.

Robert Axelrod, who voiced Lord Zedd and Finster on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, died from complications from a spinal surgery at the age of 70 in 2019. Thuy Trang, who played Trini Kwan, the original Yellow Ranger, was killed in a car crash at the age of 27 in 2001.
