Dog Helps The Police Save His Owner

A man fell through the ice on a frozen lake, and was rescued when a state police officer used the man’s dog to get rescue equipment to pull him to safety.

A 65-year-old Michigan man fell through the ice on Arbutus Lake, and the body camera worn by Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer Kammeron Bennetts captured his rescue, as Bennetts asked the man to send his dog to him.

“Send your pup here. Will she come to me?” he yelled to the man.

The dog named Ruby came to the officer who tied a rescue disc to the dog’s collar, then the man to called Ruby back to him.

“Bring your feet up to the surface by kicking your feet!” he yelled.

The officer pulled the man onto the surface and dragged him to the lake’s edge, where local firefighters completed the rescue.

The man was taken to the hospital and released after his recovery.
