Bob Seger's Celebrating A Birthday!

It's Bob Seger's Birthday!

Hitting the music scene in the 60's as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and the Bob Seger System, he first hit it big with the album "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man." The title track featured a young Glen Fry, who couldn't join Bob on the road, cause his mom said he was too young.

By 1973 he put together the Silver Bullet Band, and cemented himself as a rock giant with "Live Bullet" in 1976, which he recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Later that year he would achieve higher success with the album, "Night Moves," which featured the classic title track, as the album is now 6x Platinum.

Seger's hits are a staple in the lexicon of rock music, creating the template for what is heartland rock. With hits like, "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", "Hollywood Nights", "Against the Wind", and "Like a Rock", Seger became the poster boy for American rock, but he didn't score a #1 until "Shakedown", of all singles, which was written for the 1987 film Beverly Hills Cop II. His connection to the Eagles did give him another #1, as he co-wrote the Eagles' number-one hit "Heartache Tonight". Tom Cruise would assist in making "Old Time Rock and Roll" an iconic classic with his lyp synch performace in the movie "Ricky Business", as the hit was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001.

His career spanned six decades, and Seger has sold more than 75 million records, making him one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Bob was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012, and like the music itself, Bob Seger is Like A Rock.
