Kansas went old school at the end of their Another Fork in the Road 50th Anniversary tour, as they got some of the original members back for the final performance!
Original bassist Dave Hope reunited with founding drummer Phil Ehart, and guitarist Rich Williams at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, as the current band played together with the original.
Ehart joined in on “Lonely Wind,” “Hold On" and "Carry on Wayward Son," as co-founder Kerry Livgren would have been there but, stayed home with his wife Vicki, who broke her collarbone, so their daughter Kate played viola on "Dust in the Wind".
The 20-song, two-hour and 10-minute concert, showed Kansas in strong form after so many years in the rock world. Still not with the band, however was Steve Walsh, who left for good in 2015.
"He's not interested. He's made it clear, and that's his prerogative," Williams said. "He's retired, and it's kind of in the rearview mirror now."
Williams, still loves to see having any part of the old band together is always special.
"It's always great," he said. "We have so many great memories together, and it's always great to see them and play with them again."
Here's to carrying on till we're dust in the wind.
