The Northern York County Regional Police officers who died in the line of duty last week will be laid to rest on Thursday (September 25). Detective Sergeant Cody Becker, Detective Isaiah Emenheiser, and Detective Mark Baker will have their funeral at Living Word Community Church in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The service will begin at noon and is not open to the public, but it will be live-streamed online.
The officers were killed while serving a warrant related to a domestic abuse case in North Codorus Township. They were ambushed by Matthew J. Ruth, who opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle. Ruth was killed during an exchange of gunfire with another detective.
Detective Sergeant Becker, aged 39, served for 16 years. Detective Baker, 53, was a 21-year police veteran, and Detective Emenheiser, 43, had 20 years of service. Their deaths have significantly impacted the community, with four officers dying in the line of duty in York County this year alone.
The funeral will include a police escort from Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home to the church and then to the burial site. Details on road closures and traffic delays have not been announced yet.
To support the families of the fallen officers, the Northern York Regional police have launched a donation portal called Honor Their Service. Chief David Lash stated that 100% of the donations will go directly to the affected families. Donations can be made at Honor Their Service.
