Harrisburg Ranks Ninth in U.S. Livability Study

A new study by RentCafe has named Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as one of the most livable metro areas in the United States. Ranked ninth overall, Harrisburg is praised for its healthy food options, active community, and short commutes. The study evaluated 149 U.S. metro areas using 17 metrics across three categories: socioeconomics, quality of life, and location and community.

Harrisburg stands out with a strong social association rate, boasting 13.1 organizations per 10,000 residents, which offers ample opportunities for community engagement. Additionally, only one in four residents faces a commute longer than 30 minutes, enhancing the area's appeal. The cost of living in Harrisburg is 4% below the national average, contributing to its financial attractiveness.

According to Local21 News, Harrisburg is the most livable metro in Pennsylvania, surpassing cities like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Nationally, Washington, D.C. holds the top spot, followed by Portland, Maine, and Kansas City, Missouri.
