>Fire Company Denies Responsibility For Discolored Water

In Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, Rescue Fire Company 37 has denied responsibility for recent reports of discolored water affecting several townships. The issue arose after a training exercise on Tuesday (June 24) when the fire company used a hydrant near Deer Path Road. Veolia Water, the local water provider, attributed the discoloration to sediment stirred up during the exercise.

Chief Larry Reist of Rescue Fire Company 37 refuted these claims, stating that the water was already dark brown before their crews opened the hydrant. He accused Veolia of spreading a "blatant lie" and suggested that the water company is to blame for the issue. According to Reist, Veolia had previously warned residents about potential water pressure drops that could affect water color.

Veolia has initiated system-wide flushing operations in Marysville, Susquehanna Township, and Lower Paxton Township to address the discoloration. The company advised residents to run their cold water taps for five to ten minutes to clear the water and to contact customer service if the issue persists after 24 hours.

As the situation unfolds, Veolia has not yet responded to follow-up requests regarding the fire company's statements. The water company continues to work on resolving the issue and apologizes for any inconvenience caused to residents.
