Tri-County Housing, a nonprofit organization focused on neighborhood revitalization, celebrated the completion of a new home on Herman Avenue in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday (July 29). The two-story, three-bedroom house was built on a property where a blighted home once stood, marking a significant improvement for the area.
The construction of the new home was funded by Cumberland County's "Home" Program. The house has already been sold to a low-to-moderate income family for $165,000, making homeownership more accessible for first-time buyers. Tri-County Housing's Executive Director, Gary Lenker, expressed excitement about continuing to help families achieve their dream of owning a home while enhancing the community. "At one time, there was a blighted, abandoned home that was situated here, and with the assistance of the county, it was acquired and demolished. We ended up getting the site and building this lovely home on it," Lenker said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, as reported by FOX43.
Tri-County Housing has a long history of providing affordable housing, having developed or rehabilitated over 800 units in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties over the past 35 years. The organization remains committed to bringing similar housing opportunities to other areas in the region.
