June 2025 marked a record-breaking month for Harrisburg International Airport (HIA) as it experienced its busiest June ever. Over 151,000 passengers traveled through the airport, contributing to a total of more than 770,000 passengers in the first half of the year. This represents a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The surge in passenger numbers is part of a broader trend for HIA, which has been experiencing significant growth throughout 2025. In March alone, the airport welcomed 134,555 passengers, marking a 16.8% increase from March 2024 and making it the busiest March on record, according to Yahoo News.
As part of its "Taking Flight" initiative, HIA is working to attract more flights, residents, and businesses to Central Pennsylvania. The airport is also undergoing several improvements, including renovations to its dining options and infrastructure upgrades such as new jet bridges, updated restrooms in Concourse B, new escalators, and parking garage repairs.
HIA expects the growth trend to continue throughout the rest of the year, driven by both increased passenger traffic and ongoing enhancements to airport facilities.
