Suspect in Steelton Shooting Remains at Large

The search continues for Quadir Rameau, a 23-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at the Phoenix Mini Mart in Steelton, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday (October 7). Rameau is accused of shooting two brothers, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Kenyatta Henry and injuring his brother. The Steelton Borough Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Rameau, charging him with first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and firearm violations.

The incident occurred at 2:14 p.m. when police from 10 different agencies responded to the scene on South Fourth Street. Officers found Henry dead on the steps of the corner store, while his brother was transported to Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. Police recovered several 9 mm casings at the scene and set up a perimeter with the assistance of a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter.

According to court documents, the wounded brother identified Rameau as the shooter, stating they were former friends. Video footage reportedly shows Rameau firing a dark-colored handgun at the brothers. Rameau allegedly texted his mother, warning her to lock her doors as he had "gotten into some trouble." A search of Rameau's home uncovered 9 mm ammunition.

The Steelton Borough Police Department has warned that Rameau should be considered "armed and dangerous" and urged the public not to approach him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact Dauphin County Dispatch at 717-558-6900.

In response to the incident, all schools in the Steelton-Highspire School District were locked down and later dismissed students in a staggered manner. The district canceled in-person classes for Wednesday (October 8) and implemented a Flexible Instruction Day, with plans to resume classes on Thursday (October 9).
