Injured Trooper in Satisfactory Condition After Shooting

A Pennsylvania State Trooper, Lucas Amarose, has been upgraded to satisfactory condition at WellSpan York Hospital following a shooting incident in Franklin County. The 31-year-old trooper was critically injured last Wednesday (October 8) during a police chase that escalated into a gunfight on I-81 in Antrim Township.

According to Local 21News, the incident began when Amarose and fellow trooper Thomas Pack, 23, responded to a retail theft at a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Guilford Township. The suspects fled the scene, leading to a chase that ended with the use of spike strips to stop their vehicle. Two female suspects complied with the troopers, but the driver, Lamar Foy, 31, of Maryland, opened fire after the troopers broke the van's window. Despite being shot, Amarose and Pack returned fire, ultimately killing Foy.

As reported by Local21News, the Franklin County District Attorney, Ian Brink, ruled the troopers' use of force as justified. Trooper Pack, who was also shot, has been released from the hospital after treatment.

This incident marks the seventh and eighth troopers shot in the line of duty this year. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
