Dr. Mehmet Oz may be hanging up his TV doctor gig for a spot in the U.S. Senate, but he's still doing his doctor duties as he responded to an emergency situation Saturday morning at a political meeting. Dr. Oz was waiting for his turn at a Pennsylvania Republican Caucus Meeting when a state committee member collapsed. He suffered a seizure and then lost consciousness.
Sources who were there say that even though Oz was next in line to speak, he quickly rushed over to the man, making it in time to help lower him to the ground. The man regained conciseness by the time EMS came, even talking with Oz. The man was then taken to the local hospital. Oz was still able to take the stage for his scheduled appearance and he even got lunch with the man afterwards,
"I am a doctor first and always will be, so I responded immediately to a call for help when a nearby man collapsed," Dr. Oz said of the incident. "Following the lessons learned from a life in medicine, I did my job until EMS arrived to transport him to a nearby hospital."
