Beer Brewed With Chocolate: You've Got Options

You may normally associate Valentine’s Day with beer and chocolate, the folks at “Eat This, Not That!” think that’s a mistake – and they’ve come up with 10 of their choices to enhance your Valentine’s Day beverage choices.

  1. Samuel Smith Old Brewery Organic Chocolate Stout – This brewery has been around since 1758 and this stout? It’s vegan and contains notes of chocolate, roasted caramel malt, vanilla and marshmallows.
  2. Left Hand Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Milk Stout – They say the brew is a “deliciously dark duo” with flavors of chocolate, nuts and of course peanut butter.
  3. Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter – This beer is brewed with Hershey’s Chocolate. First introduced in 2020, it’s basically a smooth, chocolate beer.
  4. Deschutes Black Butte Porter – This one promises chocolate and a bit of coffee and cream. It’s ranked best overall on Liquor because it’s easy to drink and has been around since 1988.
  5. Rogue Double Chocolate Stout – Made with imported Dutch bittersweet chocolate, the makers say you can expect notes of oats and roasted coffee…with a sweet and salty flavor.
  6. Westbrook Brewing Company Mexican Cake – It’s a Mexican Cake imperial stout that has a variety of flavors that include cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla beans and habanero peppers that give it a bite (so does the higher abv). It was a limited specialty in the past but is back annual due to its popularity.
  7. Matchless Bar 2021 Hazelnut Imperial Stout – Brewed in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels, it promises candy-bar themed flavors of cacao, hazelnuts and vanilla bean.
  8. The Bruery White Chocolate – With an 14% ABV, this ale packs a punch. Some of the flavor notes? Roasted toffee, oak, white chocolate, caramel, honey and vanilla.
  9. Founders Brewing Co. KBS Espresso – It’s brewed with coffee and chocolate for a touch of sweetness.
  10. Guinness Chocolate Mint Stout – Brewed in Maryland, it ages in bourbon barrels with fresh mint leaves and cacao with a hint of vanilla.
