A Chinese man in his 60s got tired of his family telling him to quit smoking and drinking, so to Wei Jianguo the solution seemed obvious; he moved to Beijing Capital International Airport, where he’s apparently been living for 14 years.
Yes, it is a lot like the plot of the 2004 Tom Hanks movie "The Terminal," but this time the airport residency is voluntary; Wei uses his monthly government allowance to buy the cigarettes and alcohol his family tried to force him to give up. He’s not the only resident of the airport; according to China Daily as many as six people were thought to be living there in 2018.
