Daily Dog: Your Dog Can See With Its Nose?!?

A new study suggests dogs can "see" with their noses.

Research in the Journal of Neuroscience reveals dogs' brains connect vision and their sense of smell, which isn't found in other species. That means they have brain structures that link smells to how they see.

The study's senior author said dogs use scent to figure out where things are, but the exact experience is hard for scientists to know.

The research included studying MRI scans of the brains of 23 dogs that showed neurological connections between the olfactory bulb, where smells are recognized, and their occipital lobe, where vision is processed.

Next up is the same study on cats, horses, and other animals.
